Kim Hutcherson – (CNN) – We all have a few bad habits we would like to break. For some of us, our bad habits start at breakfast.
Dr. Shanna Levine at the Icahn School of Medicine says to start the day with foods that are high in protein and healthy fats. Skipping the doughnuts and waffles will help you avoid an energy crash later on.
Another bad habit is keeping your to-do list in your head. Trying to rely on memory for everything can be stressful so keeping a notebook handy at work or at home can help alleviate some of that anxiety..
Having an irregular sleep schedule can also sabotage your peace of mind. Experts say you should avoid watching TV or using your phone an hour before bed, and try to get at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
When you get into a good routine with your diet, fitness or sleep, stick with it. Dr. John Torous at Harvard Medical School says it’s easy to slip and return to bad habits.
Remember: it’s the good habits that are making you feel better.
